The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.
A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!
Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
Spring is here, and all the planning we did over the winter is sprouting up into the sunlight! The No Scrap Wasted solution has required a lot of focus and pairing down into avenues which will have the most impact. As we move into the warm season, our collective efforts are already yielding tangible results.
Last month, our Recycling Subcommittee submitted a letter to the Kenai Peninsula Borough detailing simple changes which could be made to the Homer Transfer Facility. The idea is to weatherproof the recycling bins so they can be moved outside of the large canopy structure where they have been located. This would make the large canopy area available to become a new re-use and salvage area. These changes would be inexpensive and have the potential to divert usable material from the landfill, reduce the labor of transfer facility staff, and prolong the effective lifespan of our local landfill. Local representatives Willy Dunne and Kelly Cooper have both expressed their support for this endeavor, and KPB Solid Waste staff are on board as well. Public resources like the Homer Transfer Station require public involvement. Come join us at our June meeting to share your ideas and help curb our local waste streams.
Also in April, we met for a tutorial on “zine” making. Drawdown members have been investigating multiple methods of sharing information with our community, and zines have been identified as effective and lasting tools to help people reduce their own waste streams at home. Short for “magazine,” zines are pocket-size folded booklets which can be made to share information on any topic. The group has nearly finished a zine on the subject of curing salmon roe!
This coming month we will be hosting a nettle harvest and preparation workshop, tentatively scheduled for Tuesday June 2nd. The workshop will take place in two parts. We’ll start with a quick foraging trip around Homer, led by the fearless Tania Spurkland. Then we will regroup for a safe-processing tutorial, including some delicious inspiration on how to incorporate this nutritious food source into your own meals. Nettles are an abundant spring vegetable which can replace imported foods and the fossil fuels required for their production and transport. Nettle leftovers can feed and protect our home gardens as well. Stay tuned for more information as we finalize details.
The No Scrap Wasted solution is broad, but that means there are plenty of ways to get involved. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on Thursday June 11th for a shared meal at 5:30, meeting to start at 6.
